State Shutdown forced Cancellation of Children First! Event FAMILY ART WALK Sat. 7/23 at Forest History Center

FAMILY ART WALK, the FREE Children First! event scheduled for Sat. July 23rd at the Forest History Center HAS BEEN CANCELED.  Forest History Center is closed due to the State Shutdown and we therefore can't hold this event.  We will be rescheduling this event at a later time this year.  Sorry for any inconveniece this may cause.  Please check out our Facebook page - Children First! Children First! Grand Rapids Area Events for August 2011

Plan on attending one of the several FREE Children First! Events that are being held in our area in August.  You can register for these events at www.getlearning.org .  Also check us out on our Facebook Page Children First! Itasca County, Minnesota and become a "FAN"!

SUMMER CONCERT BY SUMMER ITASCA ORCHESTRA AND STRINGS – Thursday, August 4th 7:00 pm at Reif Center, Grand Rapids. The IOSP summer program offers two orchestras. The Pops Orchestra, the younger group, will open with several short numbers. The Summer Chamber Orchestra consisting of older students will feature a tango written by Elizabeth Ophoven among other works.   The Ophoven family will then take the stage to perform fiddle tunes.  This concert is FREE and open to all ages.  Come and enjoy the music with us!

YMCA COMMUNITY FAMILY FUN PICNIC Monday, August 8th, from 5:00-7:00 pm on the YMCA grounds.   It's the perfect time of year to get outside, do something active with your family and enjoy a picnic.   Wear comfortable clothes (don't forget a swim suit) and plan on getting active with your children. There will be games, water play, flag football, and races going on throughout the evening.  It's a great way to get up, get out and get moving with your family.  This event is free and open to the community (suggested donation – bring a dessert to share).

FAMILY FUN DAY – WATERCOLOR PAINTING – Saturday, August 20th  Choose from 4 different sessions 10 am, 11:15 am, 12:30 pm, or 1:45 pm  at MacRostie Art Center, Grand Rapids. MacRostie Art Center staff & volunteers will work with children and their families to create art using watercolor paint. The project will begin with a warm up exercise and then participants will be able to create still-lives, landscapes, and abstract works.

Blogging for Business Hands On Workshop - MIRC

Blogging is simple. Blogging is inexpensive. Participants will learn the
basics of good blogging, the tools available to make and update a blog, and
how to promote your blog and your business. Call Computer Enterprises at
